Direct Media pioneered B2B Prospecting Databases and is generally credited for starting the first cooperative database in 1979. Now over twenty years later, Direct Media owns and manages the Direct Media DataWarehouse, a cooperative B2B database as well as several Private Prospecting Databases that are customized for our individual large volume mailers.

There are many benefits to the mailer in using the Datawarehouse or a Private Prospecting Database. Mailers pay on a pure “net-net” mailing environment. This eliminates the cost of traditional merge purge and eliminates running charges on un-mailed names. Selection charges on lists are virtually eliminated as well as material and shipping fees. Postage savings are achieved through the use of maximized postal qualification.

Since mailers are pre-approved with the appropriate list owners, list delivery time is reduced to one or two days rather than one to three weeks. This, in conjunction with the elimination of the merge purge process, greatly shortens the time frame for ordering and allows the mailer 3-4 weeks more to read results from the previous mailing before having to order names. Improved selections on lists are made possible through detailed profiles available on each list and through data overlays.

Modeling from the database is more efficient than from a merge purge environment because mailers do not have to negotiate to pay only for names actually mailed. Tracking of history (previous mailings) is available by mailer and specific offer and utilized properly should increase response rates.
